It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
