The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
